Scouts – Summer Kit List

Summer Camp Kit List

This kit list is a suggested list of items for your Scout to take to on a weekend camp in the summer. They must be able to pack their own bag, so they know what kit they have and where it is.

The number of shirts, jumpers, fleeces, trousers etc are up to you, but make sure they have a set for each day and a spare in case they get really mucky or wet.

A kit check will take place a few weeks before the camp to confirm Scouts have the correct kit. If Scouts do not have the correct kit they will be unable to come on the camp and it may be too late to arrange a refund.

Additional Information
  • Make sure everything is in a large enough rucksack.
  • Try to avoid tying things on the outside.
  • Walking Boots are important. They must be waterproof, have a good tread, and provide ankle support. Leather walking boots are needed when you use an axe or saw – for example when collecting and preparing wood for the fire.
  • Electronic items, e.g. iPod, MP3, mobile phones are not allowed. If any are taken it is at your own risk.
  • Please label all bags and items with your child’s name. Warm clothes are important.
  • Lots of thinner layers are helpful to keep you warm rather than just one thick layer as it traps warm air.
  • If your son or daughter has long hair, please send them with a few spare hair bobbles to tie their hair back. This is for when cooking so that hair does not fall into the fire or onto the stove and cause injury.
