Cubs go Caving

Cubs, Leaders & Parents from both Cub pack made the trip to Ribblehead Viaduct to go caving.
Everyone, including the parents & leaders were a little apprehensive, but once we were dressed in our oversuits and Helmets it was off to the caves to find our limits.
The Cubs were outstanding, Leading from the front, the highlights for the day, sliding down limestone in to the water & having to work as a team in total darkness to navigate our way through the caves.

District Tenpin Bowling – Winners

Both Sherburn packs entered the District Tenpin Bowling competition at Xscape – Castleford.
Sherburn won individual high score with 133 and highest scoring team with 580.
Both teams played really well with the other team just missing out on 3rd place.

 
 
 

Diwali & Communication

19th October 2017 – Diwali & Communication
Tonights theme was Diwali with a little bit of communication.
The Cubs made & tasted Indian sweets, tried a little basic morse code, wrote messages in invisible ink, built lego model’s via radio instruction and decorated their hands with henna, it was a very busy evening & Jo was Cub of the week for his great work during the tidying up.
We also renamed the Sixes to Panther, Jaguar, Tiger, Leopard.

 
 
 
 

Vikings Capsize

Vikings Capsize – On Monday night, 9 of the Cubs spent the evening Kayaking in Normanton
 
 
The Cubs were shown a selection of safety equipment normally used while kayaking on the river. Then it was time for the fun to begin, each of the Cubs had to capsize 3 times before being allowed to take part, after everyone had completed the capsize they were set free in the pool to learn how to move, stop & turn. District Night Hike & Sleepover – Tadcaster Friday 13th Oct

Cubs from both Sherburn packs were part of over 80 cubs who attended the Wetherby District annual event in Tadcaster.
All the Cubs really enjoyed the 6.5KM night hike, which is just over 4 miles, with a quick drink & snack stop on route. Once back at the Riley Smith Hall it was time for hotdog & chips before getting ready for bed & movie time.
